What happened to the MX-ONE™ Compact?
The Aastra 700 (A700) is an evolved version of the MX-ONE Compact. With the latest release the MX-ONE Compact not only adds new features and functionalities, it is also getting a new name as part of a corporate branding initiative. So, the A700 is the MX-ONE Compact – only better!

What is the A700™?
The A700™ is a full-featured IP-PBX solution with a complete suite of applications. Targeted at businesses with up to 1,000 users, it can scale seamlessly to tens of thousands of users while maintaining the original investment in hardware and licenses. Based on the proven MX-ONE IP telephony platform, the A700 provides productivity enhancing tools such as unified messaging and integrated mobility which allow users to be reached via a single number, and they can enjoy the features usually provided by an office desk phone on their mobile phone.

What is the target market for the A700?
The target customers are new customers and replacement scenarios requiring an IP-PBX solution for up to 1,000 users. It is ideally suited for companies looking to get the benefits of unified communications (UC) such as increased productivity, efficiency and integration with existing business processes. It is also a great fit for customers with a strong need for mobility. The A700 combined with its applications can be tailored towards a variety of industry segments.

What is the value proposition for the A700?
The A700 helps small and medium businesses address challenges in a number of ways:

What are the differentiators of A700 versus other products?
A700 offers many competitive advantages over competing products including the following:

  • A700 is a specially packaged version of the well established MX-ONE platform for medium to large enterprises. Therefore, it comes complete with hundreds of features, including integrated applications for unified messaging, mobility, operators, contact centers and more, allowing small and medium businesses to benefit from the same features and applications enjoyed by large businesses.
  • A700 offers an industry-leading integrated mobility solution which allows employees to be reachable anywhere, anytime on any device. A700 includes a number of features and options in support of mobility including:
    • Personal Number allows employees to be reachable on multiple devices using one number and to set profiles defining when and how they want to be reached
    • Mobile Extension works on most cellular phones on the market today, and allows employees to access features and control calls in a way similar to any other corporate extension
    • Aastra Mobile Client (AMC) provides smartphones users with an easy-to-use graphical interface for accessing and controlling features
    • Mobile Least Cost Routing allows calls to be routed in the most cost efficient manner automatically, a feature that can provide a very fast Return on Investment (ROI) for users who travel internationally
    • Support for Dual Mode phones allows businesses to save money on cellular costs and to provide the user with better indoor coverage by switching the call to the WiFi network when in range.
  • Based on an open architecture, A700 supports SIP, CSTA and other open interfaces which enable smooth integration with the existing infrastructure and a wide range of third-party phones, gateways and new emerging applications of the future.
  • The A700 supports up to 1,000 users, and when scaling beyond that, the original investment in the A700 hardware and software can be reused, so the customer’s investment is always protected.

What applications are included with the A700?
The A700 consists of a number of bundled base blocks and a set of tightly integrated optional components:

  • Base components
    • A700 IP-PBX – consisting of a telephony server and a media gateway
    • Aastra OneBox – voicemail
    • A700 Managers – a web-based management tool providing a single interface to provision users on all applications, and a web-based tool for configuring the system
  • Optional applications
    • Aastra OneBox – unified messaging (note: a small number of unified messaging licenses are included in the base package at no additional charge)
    • Auto Attendant
    • Aastra Mobile Client – mobility application (note: a small number of Aastra Mobile Client licenses are included in the base package at no additional charge)
    • Aastra InReach – attendant console
    • Solidus eCare™ Lite contact center

Is this a new product?
The A700 is a new bundled offering; however the platform itself is based on the proven MX-ONE platform, which has been deployed by over 55,000 enterprise customers worldwide.

How does this fit in with other Aastra products?
Aastra has a complete line of enterprise communications solutions and products including PBXs, terminals and applications. Aastra’s IP-PBXs support businesses of all sizes:

  • AastraLink Pro™ 160 is for small businesses up to 50 lines
  • A700 is for businesses with up to 1,000 users
  • MX-ONE is for medium to large or very large businesses

Does it work with Aastra SIP phones?
Yes, A700 supports a wide range of endpoints to suite the needs of various users. These include:

  • Aastra SIP phones
  • Aastra InTouch+ UC Client
  • SIP DECT phones
  • Analog phones
  • Any SIP-compliant third-party desk phone or softphone

What kind of technical support is available for the A700 resellers?
The A700 unit hardware and application server come with a one year warranty, and RMA and advanced replacement is available to all active and registered resellers.

A700 software comes with one year of Basic software subscription, which includes all baseline maintenance releases. In addition there is an option to purchase a 3 year Software Assurance subscription for maintenance which also includes new feature releases.

Technical support must be purchased per system; resellers can choose between either 8-5pm support or 24x7 support for critical and major issues.

Aastra-provided on-site implementation support for resellers and their customers is also available at a discounted rate.
